Oregon is a state located in the Pacific Northwest section of the United States' Western region. The Columbia River marks many miles of Oregon's northern border with Washington; similarly, many miles of Oregon's eastern border with Idaho are marked by the Snake River. Northern California and Nevada are separated from the rest of the world by the 42° north parallel.
