Pennsylvania's terrain is very diverse: the Appalachian Mountains run through the state's center, while the Allegheny and Pocono Mountains stretch most of the state's northeast. About 60 percent of the state is covered in forest land. Despite the fact that it only has 140 miles (225 km) of shoreline along Lake Erie and the Delaware River, Pennsylvania boasts more navigable rivers than any other state. The Delaware, Ohio, and Pine Creek are among the most notable.
